Saturday Ridges and Tops
"Ridges and Tops" walks only take place in the Summer months, in hilly or mountainous country further away from Birmingham. Most Sundays we organise two walks, and sometimes three: an A-walk of about 12 miles, A B-walk of 9 to 10 miles, and quite often a C-walk of about 7 miles. On Sundays we use a coach, departing from Colmore Row at 9.00 (or very occasionally) at 8.30 - and that only in high summer. We tend to do part of a long-distance walk once a month. In 2010 we will continue walking the Geopark Way, a walk we started in January 2009.
Wednesday walks
The Wednesday walks are somewhat shorter than the A and B Sunday walks, perhaps 8 miles, and members go to the starting point by car
(Ring our Wednesday walks coordinator for details of car-sharing on 559 8479, see Programme).Walk Days Out & Walks for the Public
On occasion 'walk days out' and visits to interesting buildings or events are organised on Saturdays as well, and - it goes without saying - are combined with a short walk of maybe 3 to 4 miles.Once a month on Saturdays members - and anyone interested - can also join one of our Walks for the Public by public transport, of about 5 miles, aimed at introducing the general public to the pleasures of walking.
During the Summer months other types of walks may also be planned, such as a ""Walk for All Abilities". Other special events are a 'Get Walking Weekend' walk (In 2010 on Saturday 22nd of May, and The Ramblers' 'Festival of Winter Walks', generally within the Birmingham conurbation, reached by public transport and/or car.
Ramblers is a registered charity (number 1093577)
